Tips for High School
ASAK
Knowledge is very essential for a Muslim to seek...which means that it is imperative that we must strive to achieve an education. High school is a very important stepping stone on your path through life; therefore, to have a better chance at both succeeding and enjoying high school, it is wise to prepare yourself.
I'm inviting everyone to submit "My Tips for High School"; simply comment with a list of tips for anyone either entering or in high school. It can relate to anything including but not limited to: maintaining your Islamic Identity, sustaining a good GPA, choosing the appropriate classes, and displaying the right attitude towards your classmates. After August 23rd, insha' Allah, I will compile all the lists into a single post which will be published on August 24th.
In the meantime, I have my own list:
"My Tips for High School":
1. Don't let peer pressure change your beliefs (as a Muslim.) If you believe firmly that something is haraam as a Muslim, then you should not adapt to conform to others' practices simply because they are pressuring you into doing so.
2. Be careful when selecting AP classes. But also challenge yourself. Take the right amount and right type of classes that will get you to where you want to go: out of high school as a graduate and into a good university, insha' Allah.
3. Be confident.
"I was terrified coming back to school sophomore year. But acting confident really helped. First of all, acting confident actually made me confident. And second, confidence implies a lack of concern for other people's opinion, which paradoxically, makes others value your opinion more. High school kids are odd in that way."-Efrat Hakak, WholeFamily.com Intern
Once again, the deadline is August 23rd.
